And before I had even realized, it was all done!
There’s still mixing and mastering and those things, but we’re all done recording for the EP! Somebody please shed a tear for me!!
It was a bit shocking when I opened my eyes after tracking a harmony to find out we were all done.
I love the recording process, it’s the chance for all that muscle memory to do it’s thing and for all those bits of dreaming and creativity to take shape in something that seems immortal. My grand kids could listen to this EP! And their grand kids! That’s pretty amazing.
The last song we finished recording was “Fourteen Days”, which I felt was really fitting as the story in the song is a bit of an epic and was really inspired by Madeleine L’engle’s, “A Wrinkle In Time” novel. Some of the lyrics…
”Fourteen Days, fourteen nights,
we took flight in clouds of white.
Thrown around in the sky, crashing down.
Got to live, got to be, using foolish ones like me.
Shame the proud, shame the wise, love comes down.”
It’s about that adventure we go on when we know we’re following what’s good in our hearts, even though it might be a hard journey. We got tossed around, but we land in a good spot. I always liked this verse,
“But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.” 1 Corinthians 1:27
It’s a great reminder that no matter how young, how old, how educated, how experienced we may or may not be, God can do great things through us. So let’s go have some adventures and make life worth living!
Lots of love,
